1.  Walk-through/tidy up

Push in the chairs.

Pick up any trash or books left on the tables.

 

2.  Check in Books 

Make sure you re-sensitize them and place them on the appropriate carts.

Pay attention to pop-ups.

 

3.  Organize the Cart

Make sure the fiction and nonfiction are on the appropriate carts.

Place the nonfiction in appropriate Dewey order.

Place Fiction in appropriate alphabetic order

 

4.  Shelving

          Place the books on the shelf in the correct locations.

As you go, check the shelf above and below and the books on either side to ensure that there are no mis-shelved books. If there are, place them in the correct location or back onto the cart.

 

5.  Search and Rescue:

Face the shelves. Pull all copies forward to an inch from the edge and make sure they are even.

Check order of books as you go.

Place any misplaced books on the cart.

6.  Magazine Maintenance

The magazines on the rack by the door should be the most current issue, arranged in alphabetic order.

New issues need to have a tattle strip inserted and all the perfume and subscription cards removed.

On the back shelves there should be no more than two back issues. Place all older magazines in a box in the library office for reuse.

 

7.  Recycling duty

Take library recycling and the recycling in the copy room out to the dumpster. The white dumpster is for the recycling.
